I heart Liberty

So the grand makeover at Liberty is underway,

But they have kindly left this sliver of gorgeous Tudor frontage
so I could take a picture.

A brief history, thanks to Liberty:
“Liberty is the leading destination store in London, a wonderful emporium where the latest fashions sit alongside design classics.  Since 1875, Liberty has been synonymous with luxury and great design.
"Arthur Liberty’s intuitive vision and pioneering spirit led him to travel the world looking for individual pieces to inspire and excite his discerning clientele. Liberty is not just a name above the door, it’s Arthur Liberty’s legacy, which stands for integrity, value, quality and above all beautifully designed product.”

This is a blog of 3 parts, please enjoy in your own time and if you like it, please tell your friends.  Its nice to share :)

What: Alex Monroe, Chrysanthemum Jewellery Launch
Where: Liberty
When: 8th June 2011

"Meet the maker Alex Monroe in Liberty and to see his brand new range", don’t mind if I do.  I’m sure I found the work of Alex when collating magazine cuttings for research (scrap) books at university, but keeping me involved is the blog on his website.  Take a peek at http://www.alexmonroe.com/blog/ funny and informative!  And he saves bees…

Only second to Saturday day time on London’s bustling Oxford Street, Thursday night is the busiest time for shopping!  And boy did it feel this way.  As well as everyone scrambling for last minute gifts and bits for the weekend (not to mention umbrellas for the tropical down pours in London that day), Alex had a fair crowd wanting to say hello, compliment the new collection, ask about the new shop in London Bridge (opening next month), I was even there to witness a lady ask him to sign a birthday card for her sister, as she loved his jewellery so much.  An amazing turn out and reaction by all, phenomenal.

My favourite piece of the collection had to be the cluster of flowers on a necklace with pearls on one side and chain on the other.  This can be seen in the first picture on his latest blog about Liberty.  Stunning.

Thanks to everyone who was there, good times…

What: Katie Rowland, Jeweller
Where: Liberty
When: 7th June 2011

Katie Rowland

So, I was in the neighbourhood and thought I’d pop in, see what is new and going on in the best jewellery room in London.  Turns out, quite a lot!  Katie Rowland herself was to be found with her collection, polished and prepared for London Jewellery Week, this week.  On show was a wonderful assortment of yellow and rose gold pieces mixed with a variety of fantastically bright enamelled colours, ready for me to put several all the way up both arms and on all my fingers!  My favourite pieces were an 18ct ring with black rhodium plate on the outer surfaces, leaving the inside yellow, for my eyes only.

And this beautiful rose gold and pink enamel knuckle duster.  A terrible picture, but please go and take a look in Liberty, or if your around London on Thursday night (9th June 2011) Katie herself will be at Treasure as part of London Jewellery Week (www.londonjewelleryweek.co.uk/events/show/treasure).

Nice to meet you, Katie!  Thanks for eye delights

What: Dower & Hall Pearl Party
Where: Liberty
When: 25th May 2011

Pearls, pearls and more pearls!

An evening of delights hosted by Dan Dower and Diane Hall.  This limited edition range of pearls, semi-precious stones, and silver went on tour to the 3 stores in Glasgow, Bluewater and London Spittlefields to finally end up here, at Liberty (where there is a concession store in the jewellery room) where Dan gave a brief history of the pearl itself.  It was a warm summers evening and Dan had everyone captivated; often in a jewellery shop you are told the inspiration behind a collection, but here Dan told the story of why the pearl itself is so precious.  Take time now, you can read it here, its interesting!  http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=226953227331604&comments

Dan Dower in the centre here
Found, one tusk, looking for a new owner.  I believe this could be me.

Hanging at a brilliantly long 36inches, this is a true statement piece that I would like to wear with everything please.  The bonus being that as the signage says, a full 40% goes to charity! Everyone is a winner…

Thanks for a wonderful evening,
